View Nepal Treks proudly presents an overwhelming adventure Ama Dablam Expeditions although a small mountain of 6,814 m and 22,355 ft high, but provides enough thrill and technical challenge than most 8,000 or 7,000 meters mountains.
Located south east from Everest close to villages of Pangboche and Dingboche the route leads away from mainstream trekking trail in complete off-beaten tracks.
Named “Ama-Dablam” after Sherpa language of Tibetan origin meaning ‘Mother with Jewel Box’ from the distance looking at the mountain with huge Ice-block attached on its neck resembles a small jewel box.
One of the most stunning and magnificent looking mountain in all Himalaya slowly becoming popular among hard-core mountaineers to climb this beautiful peak, It offers high technical skill from either side of the mountain.
The mountain with immense beauty has made a coveted prize for climbers, since its first ascent in 1961 by Anglo-American New Zealand team it has been climbed frequently by many interested climbers using different routes.
View Nepal Treks takes the challenging adventure using original South West Ridge route for the climb, as it offers excellent climbing effort, with a reasonable level of
difficulty and using good camp platforms at strategic points along the summit route.
After spending week or more of tough and exciting climb to the summit, after a triumph on top, head back to Lukla for the flight to Kathmandu, after a successful climb and great experience with View Nepal Treks service and support of expert guides.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Full preparation for Ama-Dablam Expeditions.
Day 04: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 07: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Ama-Dablam BC at 4,580 m via Pangboche 3, 900 m – 06 hrs.
Day 09: Rest Day at Base Camp preparation for the climb.
Day 10: Set up High Advance Camp 5,540 m – 04 hrs climb.
Day 11 – 20: Ascent of Ama-Dablam (10 days to summit).
Day 21: Cleaning up at Base Camp.
Day 22: Trek to Thyangboche – 05 hrs.
Day 23: Trek to Monjo 2,860m – 06 hrs.
Day 24: Trek to Lukla – 06 hrs.
Day 25: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 26 – 27: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.
Day 28: International departure homeward bound.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by View Nepal Treks staff with warm welcome and transfer to respective hotels with briefing regarding Ama Dablam expeditions hotels, lodge on route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.
In Kathmandu with optional sightseeing around places of places of interest, as Kathmandu valley steeped with historical monuments all listed as World Heritage Sites, an opportunity to gain knowledge of Nepali cultures and traditions.
Today fully engrossed with Ama-Dablam Expeditions activities with final briefing and orientation for the trek and climb and knowing each member of the team including guides and other staff. We have this extra day to provide enough time for packing and buying extra gears or shopping for the expeditions. View Nepal office and field staff along with leader of the team will use this day to obtain permits and necessary documentation for the climb to Mt. Ama Dablam.
Mornings, flight to Lukla with views of mountain range, after 30 mins of great flight reaching Lukla, with short break trek towards Phakding village for overnight stop through farm villages, a moderate walk with few short ups overlooking beautiful scenery along the route to Phakding located by Dudh Kosi river.
After a nice morning, walk continues crossing bridges over Dudh Kosi River passing several interesting villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, from here on the river bed for few hours and after the last bridge a steep uphill to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.
A perfect place for rest day for proper acclimatization before heading higher area, morning a short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk up on top a hill of Namche for views of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, visit the museum.
From Namche on gradual scenic path with downhill to Imjatse river at Phunge-Tenga for lunch, and then uphill through rhododendron, pines, firs tree forest with views of snowcapped peaks.
On reaching Thyangboche visit famous Buddhist monastery with magnificent panorama of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam.
Morning downhill walk for few hours over Imjatse River, after the bridge walk on an open country where tree lines fades for few short juniper and dwarf rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach at Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Last permanent village before Ama-Dablam areas and beyond, from here downhill to Imjatse River and after crossing a bridge, leading to a steep slow climb to huge wide field at Ama-Dablam base camp.
A rest day at base camp preparation for the climb where one hike to advance camp with views of beautiful landscapes and mountains during the high walk, afternoon relax and with final setting for next day adventure.
From Base Camp following old grassy moraine ridges eastwards to a broad saddle from one can see a Mingbo-La. From the saddle turn north and climb up rocky ground and finally through boulders to the ridge below Pt.5, 705 which is the site of High Advance Camp with small space for 4 to 5 tents platforms.
View Nepal Treks reserves 10 days to reach the summit, during these days where you will be busy dividing loads and checking your equipment for the final assault.
Depending upon the weather conditions if all goes well with the weather and team members fitness, can reach the summit within one week frame, the group will be divided with one team fixing ropes another carrying loads up to higher next few camps.
For the final attempt to the summit top, 2 more camps required to make the route of climb more accessible with Camp I and Camp II.
Climbing and skirting a red rock bluff on the east and following a ramp line to a gray tower. Move into the ramp (some stone fall danger) and climb to an amphitheater. Continue up a broad gully on between the gray tower and the lower rock buttress and climb a snow slope to ' Santa's Grotto' at the start of Mushroom ridge.
Climb on snow and Ice slope to the right following a mix ground to the top of the highest hanging glacier. An ice crest leads to a nice position to reach the summit.
From the top with super vista panorama of high mountains of Khumbu and Everest area and as far to Makalu and Baruntse peaks.
After an incredible adventure of life time experience head back to base camp with safe descend.
At Base Camp start packing climbing gears and disposing garbage in proper sites, where SPPC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control) will check the camp and depositing the litter to take away from the base camp to proper disposal sites or back to Kathmandu.
Return journey is much easier losing heights every hours, walking downhill with few short ups to Pangboche and then to the bridge with two 2 hours climb to Thyangboche for overnight stop.
After a great time on Ama-Dablam and Thyangboche Monastery descend to Imjatse River, with steep climb for an hour to Sanasa, from here on gradual path with short ups and downs to Namche Bazaar, a break here and then walk back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to Monjo for overnight stop.
Morning walk back to Dudh Kosi river valley and to Monjo and then reaching at Phakding from here a pleasant last day trek to Lukla on reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow climbers and staff.
From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.
A spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.
We have allowed two days after Lukla for reserve day and as well to submit expeditions report to concern Nepal Government Department regarding the climb and activities of the expeditions.
Today, your last day in amazing Nepal with great experience and fond memories of Mt. Ama-Dablam Expeditions, as per your time for international flight, View Nepal staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.
