A spectacular country walks on wonderful Langtang Volunteer Trekking visiting rural areas of Rasuwa and Langtang region for a cause and purpose with View Nepal Treks.
This is a special and exclusive program where you can help and volunteer around Central Himalaya area, located just north of Kathmandu with super views of Ganesh-Langtang and Jugal Himal mountain range.
On this “Langtang Volunteer Trekking” anyone can join in to rebuild Langtang villages which was completely shattered and destroyed from massive avalanches caused from the effect of 25th April and 12th May 2015 earthquake which shook Mid East / West Nepal.
Beside villages, the road was badly damaged and the death toll was uncountable of locals including trekkers.
Much work and help has been organized by various private sectors and organizations, but still lacks much manpower and financial support to rebuild the houses around devastated villages in Langtang area.
Where your help and support are in need so join in our “Langtang Volunteer Trekking” and help to rebuild Langtang villages its local schools and trails and bringing back the smiles of the helpless villagers.
“Langtang Volunteer Trekking” starts with overland drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi village around Rasuwa district, within Langtang National Park extends 32 km (as crow flies) north of Kathmandu to the Nepal – China (Tibet) border.
The final destination of trekking leads to scenic Langtang valley at Kyanjin Gompa after few days in Langtang village with volunteer services, with wonderful panorama of mountains, on completing this marvelous trek back to Kathmandu after an enjoyable time around Langtang Volunteer Trekking with great guidance and service of View Nepal Treks.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour and trip preparation.
Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m – 07 hrs journey.
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel 2,240m -06 hours.
Day 05: Trek to Langtang village 3,430m – 05 hours
Day 06 to 08: In Langtang village with volunteer works.
Day 09: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,749 m – 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Lama Hotel 2, 350m – 07 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Upper /Thulo Syabru village 2,118m – 06 hrs.
Day 12: Trek to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari 3,254 m – 05 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Gosainkund 4,460 m – 05 hrs.
Day 14: Trek to Dhunche town 1,950 m – 05 hrs.
Day 15: Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 16: Free day in Kathmandu for individual activities.
Day 17: International departure homeward bound.
On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by View Nepal Treks staff with warm welcome transfer respective hotels our guide / leader will inform regarding Langtang Volunteer trekking - hotels –lodge on route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.
Free day in Kathmandu with optional sightseeing tour (if not included in booking) Kathmandu valley steeped with historical and cultural monuments of temples, Stupas, monasteries and old kings palace with courtyard, where all these important places are added as world heritage sites.
After an interesting tour with free afternoon, preparation for Langtang volunteer trek.
Starting this wonderful journey driving towards North West of Kathmandu passing interesting villages and towns with fabulous scenery of hills, farm terraces and snow capped peaks after the warm area reaching to cooler region at Langtang National Park entrance in Dhunche 1950 meters, the one and the only major town of Rasuwa district and Langtang area of mostly Tamang ethnic tribes throughout the area on this trek.
From here downhill for two hours with overnight at Syabrubesi, the door to Langtang, Ganesh and into Tamang Heritage Trail and as well to the Tibet border from this village.
First day walk leads uphill for a while with rest of the walk on gradual and winding trail through terraced farms and villages, walk descend to join a path of upper Syabru near Riverside. From here another hours walk to reach a small forest clearing at Lama Hotel for overnight stop.
Morning walk follows Trisuli or Langtang River upstream, leading to a climb into rhododendron and oaks forest after few hours walk reaching at Ghoretabla in the middle of the forest.
After a nice stop continue walk for few hours to Langtang village through forest and crossing streams and leaving the tree line behind at Langtang village for overnight.
In Langtang village which is slowly returning back to normal life after heavy damage from landslide and avalanches caused from 25th April and 12th May 2015 earthquake.
Here as per the volunteer program for 3 days helping to rebuild Langtang village, its farm houses-schools-monastery and broken trails are the most important to start with our volunteering propose.
Our guide will inform and brief you of local culture and traditions along with help needed to build most of the houses and walking trails.
Starting after breakfast joining hand in hand with the locals laying stones and bricks working for few hours till lunch and then carry on till late afternoon, completing some of the important works for the day.
Next two days carry on with the daily routine in rebuilding places of destruction from houses-schools-path including maintaining water supply to the village.
After a wonderful stop with work of progress rebuilding Langtang village, morning walk moving on winding uphill trail as the narrow river gorge opens into a wide beautiful valley with awesome views of snow capped peaks that lines this Langtang valley, walking on encountering few prayer or mani walls and then reaching our first destination of this trip at Kyanjin Gomba for two nights in this lovely valley surrounded by many peaks around with Langtang Lirung glacier just close by from the lodges and a cheese processing factory established some 35 years ago with help of Swiss assistance.
View from Kyanjin includes Ghengu Liru (Langtang II 6571m / 21,560ft), Langtang Lirung (7,425m / 23,765ft) Kimshun (6,745m / 22,137ft) and Shalbachum (6,918m / 22,699ft) to the south, the Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga 5,846m and Gangchempo, Tilman's beautiful Fluted Peak.
Beyond it continues to the Jugal Himal, ending with Dorje Lakpa (6,980m / 22,929ft), extending further east on the upper meadows of the Langtang range ends in a huge and massive mountain wall, forming the border with Tibet.
Morning catching the last view of this wonderful surrounding and high snow capped mountains in amazing Langtang valley, then heading downhill on the main route to Lama Hotel after a long descend with few short ups in between the walks.
From Lama Hotel morning walk leads to alternative route to Upper Syabru also called as Thulo Syabru, a short downhill to Riverside and Bamboo area with small lodges in the middle of rhododendron, oaks and bamboo forests, after short rest here walk continues uphill to a ridge at Upper Syabru.
Thulo Syabru village of traditional Tamang houses are linked together with beautiful carved windows and doors with an old monastery above the village.
After this nice village walk leads to a climb through enchanting dense forest of lovely rhododendron, oaks and pine trees with views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal and as far towards west peaks of Manaslu and Annapurna Himalaya, although a steep climb but interesting walking into this beautiful forest where more than 10 varieties of rhododendron species exists around this thick woodlands, passing summer pasture and shades of cattle herders and then on the pleasant winding trail to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari village with cheese factory and an old monastery at the top of the village.
From Shing Gompa, walk leads to holy Gosainkund, starting with climb through pine and rhododendron forest then higher over Lauri Binayak pass of above 3,932 m, walk leads past Laurebina and Cholang Pati. After Lauri Binayak with fantastic views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung reaching at holy Gosaikund Lake area for overnight stop.
The legendry story of this holy place Gosainkund, a pond believed as the vicarage of Lord Shiva (one of three main Hindu deities) and Goddess Gauri. Hindu believes that this pristine pond was formed due to digging of the land by Trisul (a holy Trident) weapon of Lord Shiva, thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims from India and Nepal visits Gosainkund every year especially on full moon day which lies in the month of August, the special auspicious occasion of ‘Janai Purnima’ festival.
From this holy spot of Gosainkund morning walk leads to long downhill through dense forest passing several Sheppard’s shelter and grazing and pasture land reaching at Shing Gompa and continue descend to the bottom of the hill, stopping for a while and then ending this long hard of the day at Dhunche town for last overnight stop in this high hills of Langtang area.
After breakfast a nice interesting drive following downhill winding road to Kathmandu passing many farm villages and towns of Kalikathan, Trisuli Bazaar and the back to hustle, bustle of city life of Kathmandu and then check into respective hotels.
A free and leisure day in Kathmandu for own individual activities and souvenirs shopping, for interested people one can book for sightseeing tours around Kathmandu-Bhaktapur and Patan cities at places of interest, as Nepal is steeped with historical and World Heritage Sites.
