Trip Reviews

  • ABC Trekking Review!! ABC Trekking Review!!

I did a ten days Annapurna base camp trek with View Nepal Treks & Expedition. I would highly recommend the company, and particularly our guide Basu. He seemed to know everybody en route so enabled us to meet some local toddlers who were adorable! Also, all worries of huts being full were taken away. The company is Nepal based, so far cheaper than Western companies, but you get at least as good service. The trek itself is absolutely stunning, particularly Machupuchare, which is in view for most of the trek. I’ve done a lot of hiking and nothing has come close to this. We went trek in August which worked out perfectly. Despite some day rain, we had good weather and missed the peak season. The accommodation was better than I expected, we had clean private rooms every night. Bhupendra who runs the company, who have a nice hotel in Pokhara by the Fewa lake looking after by his brothers, the effort to us at the end of the trip which was a lovely gesture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Annapurna base camp trekking leads from moderate walk to adventurous especially in snow conditions, leading up and down hills on stone steps near villages, as altitude wise it is one of the most safest trek at ABC only above 4,095 meters high without the problem of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness).
This trek leads from warm sub-tropical climate to cooler temperatures as the walk progress above 2,000 meters, with mild alpine climate with morning and night time cooler but the day is bright and sunny sometimes the afternoon can get windy with wind-chill factor. Can be cold season wise, autumn and winter months can get cold above 3,000 m with strong UV. In spring and summer above ,3000 m with 15°-18° C average and minimum of 0° to 5° C, autumn / winter day time 15°-16° C and can get below -5° C during morn / night time.
One of the safest trekking despite high mountains, chance of altitude getting AMS is very slim starting with slow moderate walk, acclimatization every day before reaching Base Camp at 4,095meters. If some people get sick with other problem or diarrhea which is normal due to change of foods, air and environment, we do carry medical kit on every trek as our guide have enough medical experience, they will advice what is best and in case of serious illness and accidents, emergency evacuation is necessary by any means of transport including helicopter service to reach nearest hospital.
Normally Satellite and local Cell phone works, when deep gorge and valley like in Bamboo –Dovan-Deurali it won’t work properly sometimes, in case if your cell does not work there are Landlines (STD /ISTD) available along every lodge on route ABC.
