Around Helambu Volunteer Service Trek  with View Nepal Treks, leading you to one of the most fascinating and scenic destination around North Mid East of Nepal close distance from Kathmandu valley rim.

A great trip with super combination of scenic and cultural walk with a purpose helping to rebuild the rural mid hills villages of Nepal and to bring back the smiles of the people devastated by terrible earthquake of 25th April and 12th May 2015.

An ideal country walk suitable for all types of travelers exploring rich Buddhist culture of Hyalmo people and its lovely villages, one of the least and near vanishing tribe around Himalaya.

This fine and pleasant walk leads around mid hills villages of Tamang, Bhotias and Hyalmo ethnic tribes where you can witness old Tibetan Buddhist religion, culture, visiting interesting monasteries with views of mountains in the harmony of friendly warm environment.

After a short drive from Kathmandu and walking in and around Helambu villages at Tarkye Gang where our main goal volunteering service begins. Around  Helambu volunteer in co-ordination of the villagers respecting norms and preserving its ancient culture rebuilding the shattered houses, school and monuments like buddhist chortens and monastery in the village.

After a wonderful time Around Helambu Volunteer heading back to Kathmandu downhill to warmer area through interesting Sermathang village and concluding this pleasant walk at Malemchipul Bazaar with drive back to Kathmandu after an excellent services of View Nepal Treks.

Around Helambu Volunteer: Short Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani 2,300 m – 04hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Kutumsang 2,446 m via Gulbhanjyang 2,125 m – 06 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Malemchigaon 2,560 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Tarke Gyang 2,590 m – 04 hours.
Day 08 – 09: Trek to Tarke Gyang 2,590 m – 04 hours.
Day 10: Trek to Kakni Bhanjyang 1,755 m via Sermathang 2,610 m – 06 hours.
Day 11: Trek to Malemchipul Bazaar, drive to Kathmandu – 05 hrs drive
Day 12: International departure homeward bound.

Around Helambu Volunteer Detail Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by View Nepal Treks staff with transfer to your hotels, where our guide / leader will brief regarding Around Helambu Trek and Volunteer service, hotels, lodge on route with evening welcome dinner.

Free day in Kathmandu with optional sightseeing tour (if not included in booking) Kathmandu valley steeped with historical and cultural monuments of temples, Stupas, monasteries and old kings palace with courtyard, where all these important places are added as world heritage sites. After an interesting tour with free afternoon preparation for trek to Helambu and volunteer work.

Beginning this wonderful trek with short drive from Kathmandu to east at Sundarijal, from Sundarijal start walk with climb into farm villages, waterfalls then reaching at Shivapuri National Park, from here into forest and scattered farm villages to reach at Chisapani, located on a high ridge of Kathmandu valley North hills, with cool and fresh air at 2,300 m high offering super views of snowcapped mountain ranges of Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh Himal, Lang tang Himal extending towards Jugal Himal including Kathmandu valley.

At Chisapani enjoy the fantastic sunrise and sunset views over the mountains.

After pleasant morning catching sunrise with the mountain views, start walk downhill to Pati Bhanjyang village mostly inhabited by Hindu Brahman and Chettries, from here continue walk with a climb for an hour and then on winding path into forest and villages to reach at Gulbhanjyang, after a nice stop start climbing to Chipplin village, then walk through farm villages with views of rolling green hills and snowcapped peaks then reaching our overnight stop in Kutumsang, a mix farm village of Sherpa-Hylamo and Tamang ethnic tribes of people with views of mountains, afternoon free at leisure to explore this small lovely village and its scenic surrounding.

After a nice morning with super views continue walk, start with a descend into dense rhododendron, hemlocks, firs and pines tree lines forest for few hours, as the walk continues further passing several Sheppard’s huts and temporary settlements to reach Melamchi Khola
(stream) crossing over leading to a climb at Malemchigaon for overnight stop.

A typical mountain village of Buddhist culture where Hyalmo people villages starts, houses windows, doors and furniture decorated with beautiful carvings, after getting organize in the lodge, explore this nice village of Hyalmo people similar to Sherpa and Tamang religion and culture, this tribe is near extinct only few thousand exists in Nepal, India-Darjeeling and Sikkim.

Today, a short day walk to major village of Helambu at Tarke Gyang, morning walk on downhill to Melamchi River and at small farm village, crossing the river on suspension bridge, then climb above the river for an hour reaching at Tarkeghyang village via Nakote village for lunch and overnight stop.

Tarkegyang, famous for Buddhist culture, wood carving and delicious green apples also.

Afternoon free to explore this lovely village and the old monastery of Ama Yangri situated on top of the village.

At Trake Gyang and around Helambu village slowly returning back to normal life after heavy damage from 25th April and 12th May 2015 earthquake which shook most of Mid East / West Nepal with heavy toll of human life.

Here as per the volunteer program for 2 days helping to rebuild Tarke Gyang and neighboring villages, its farm houses-schools-monastery and broken trails are the most important to start with our volunteering project.

Our guide will inform and brief you of local culture and traditions along with help needed to build most of the houses and walking trails.
Starting after breakfast joining hand in hand with the locals laying stones and bricks working for few hours till lunch and then carry on till late afternoon, completing some of the important works for the day.

Next day carry on with the daily routine in rebuilding places of destruction from houses-schools-path including maintaining water supply to the village.

Morning after leaving this nice village walk downhill through cool forested path passing many chortens (Buddhist prayer monuments), summer meadows to reach Gangyul a small village, then following the path with wonderful views of rolling hills to reach at Shermathang for lunch stop and rest, this is another lovely Hyalmo village visit an old monastery. From here on downhill walk for few hours to reach our overnight stop at Kakni Bhanjyang.

After a wonderful time around Helambu and its pristine surrounding, continue with long downhill walk to Melamchi town with interesting market or a bazaar, after a short rest drive back to Kathmandu.

Few hours of pleasant drive reaches at Kathmandu after a wonderful time in the high hills of Himalaya around beautiful Helambu villages.

Last day in Nepal with wonderful experience and fond memories walking around Helambu and volunteer service, as per your flight time View Nepal Treks staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.
