Langtang Gosainkund trek starts with overland drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi village around Rasuwa district, within Langtang National Park extends 32 km (as crow flies) north of Kathmandu to the Nepal – China (Tibet) border.
This scenic pleasant trek leads to beautiful Langtang valley at Kyanjin Gompa with awesome panorama of mountains; from here adventure continues heading high towards holy Gosainkund a popular pilgrimage spot for both Hindus and Buddhist religion.
After a marvelous time around heading back to Kathmandu with a climb to the highest point of this adventure over Gosainkund or Easter Lauribina-La pass at above 4,609 m high.
This fine journey concludes with downhill walk to Kathmandu after wonderful time around Langtang & Holy Gosainkund trek with great guidance and service of View Nepal Treks.

On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by View Nepal Treks staff with warm welcome transfer respective hotels our guide / leader will inform regarding Langtang & Holy Gosainkund trekking - hotels –lodge on route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.
Morning our city and tour guide will take you on a tour around Kathmandu at places of immense interest as Kathmandu and neighboring cities steeped with historical and cultural background full of World Heritage Sites, afternoon back to hotel and preparation for the trek to Langtang & Holy Gosainkund.
Starting this wonderful journey driving towards North West of Kathmandu passing interesting villages and towns with fabulous scenery of hills, farm terraces and snow capped peaks after the warm area reaching to cooler region at Langtang National Park entrance in Dhunche 1950 meters, the one and the only major town of Rasuwa district and Langtang area, inhabited mostly of Tamang ethnic tribes throughout the area of this trekking.
From here downhill for two hours with overnight at Syabrubesi, the door to Langtang, Ganesh and into Tamang Heritage Trail and as well to the Tibet border from this village.
Our first day walk starts with a climb for few hours, and then walk gets pleasant on gradual trails encountering terraced farms and scattered villages, walk continues reaching a river side where the trail from Thulo Syabru meets (our route on the way back) at Bamboo with few lodges, after a short stop walk uphill into cool forest of rhododendron, oaks and pines tree lines and into a gorge following Trisuli River upstream to Lama Hotel for overnight stop.
Morning walk into a river gorge with thick forested area, passing few small farm settlements, to reach a nice place at Ghoretabla (horse stable), from onwards altitude gains slowly and air gets cooler. After lunch break at Ghoretablea and around trek continues to our overnight stop at Langtang village after a walk for few hours.
Langtang village was a moderate size village (partly destroyed by 25th April 2015 earthquake) of Tamang and Bhotia’s tribe people, native of Langtang region for hundreds of years.
After a wonderful stop in this last village, and into temporary settlement of yak herders and lodge to serve the trekkers, moving on the winding up trail and then the gorge opens to a wide beautiful valley with awesome views of snow capped peaks that surrounds Langtang valley, After a nice and pleasant walk reaching our first destination at Kyanjin Gomba for two nights in a lovely valley, surrounded by giant peaks with Langtang Lirung glacier close to the lodges with a cheese processing factory established some 35 years ago with support of Swiss technical assistance.
A perfect spot for rest day to acclimatize at this high altitude before our next higher journey to Gosainkund and beyond, here many places for short hike and climb like to the hill top of Tsego and Kyanjin ri at over 4,000 meters top for better panorama of surrounding mountains.
From view point hill overlooking at Langtang Himal, beyond which lies Tibet. The major peaks include Ghengu Liru (Langtang II 6571m / 21,560ft), Langtang Lirung (7,425m / 23,765ft) Kimshun (6,745m / 22,137ft) and Shalbachum (6,918m / 22,699ft) to the south, the Chimsedang Lekh forms a ridge of peaks which includes Naya-Kanga 5,846m and Gangchempo, Tilman's beautiful Fluted Peak.
Beyond it continues to the Jugal Himal, ending with Dorje Lakpa (6,980m / 22,929ft), extending further east on the upper meadows of the Langtang range ends in a huge and massive mountain wall, forming the border with Tibet.
Morning catching the last view of this wonderful surrounding and high snow capped mountains in amazing Langtang valley, then heading downhill on the main route to Lama Hotel after a long descend with few short ups in between the walks.
From Lama Hotel morning walk leads to alternative route to Upper Syabru also called as Thulo Syabru, a short downhill to Riverside and Bamboo area with small lodges in the middle of rhododendron, oaks and bamboo forests, after short rest here walk continues uphill to a ridge at Upper Syabru.
Thulo Syabru village of traditional Tamang houses are linked together with beautiful carved windows and doors with an old monastery above the village.
After this nice village walk leads to a climb through enchanting dense forest of lovely rhododendron, oaks and pine trees with views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal and as far towards west peaks of Manaslu and Annapurna Himalaya, although a steep climb but interesting walking into this beautiful forest where more than 10 varieties of rhododendron species exists around this thick woodlands, passing summer pasture and shades of cattle herders and then on the pleasant winding trail to Singh Gomba / Chandanbari village with cheese factory and an old monastery at the top of the village.
From Shing Gompa, walk leads to our second part of the journey to holy Gosainkund, starting with a slow climb through pine and rhododendron forest then higher up at Lauri Binayak pass of above 3,932 m / 12,900 ft as the walk leads past Laurebina and Cholang Pati.
After a nice walk from Lauri Binayak walk descend through scenic landscape with fantastic views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung and then reaching to our overnight stop at holy Gosaikund Lake area.
The story of this holy place as per ancient Hindu epic, Gosaikund a pond believes as the vicarage of Lord Shiva (one of three main Hindu deities) and Goddess Gauri. Hindu believes that this pristine pond was formed due to digging of the land by Trishul (a holy Trident) weapon of Lord Shiva, thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims from India and Nepal visits Gosainkund every year especially on full moon day which lies in the month of August, the special auspicious occasion of ‘Janai Purnima’ festival.
After a nice overnight at holy Gosainkund, today walk will be tough as the walk lead to a climb over Laurabina eastern or Gosainkund pass at 4,609 m / 15,121 ft, highest point of this adventure, after the pass downhill most of the way with few short ups and down to our overnight stop at a small place of Gopte Odar, situated in the middle of forest on route Kathmandu and Helambu area.
From Gopte, morning walk through forest on winding path most of the way with short steep climb to a high ridge at Thadepati 3,597 meters, where Helambu and Kathmandu trekking trail joins. Thadepati offers super views of snowcapped peaks and wonderful scenery of rolling hills and valley, this place with 5-6 lodges and teahouse.
After a nice break here walk leads downhill most of the way to Kutumsang village for overnight stop.
After a nice stop at Kutumsang village, morning walk on uphill trail, through farm fields and terraces with few ups and downhill, then walking into forest with grand views of surrounding landscapes and snowcapped mountain range from Ganesh-Langtang to Jugal Himal, then this pleasant walk completes for the day at Gul-Bhanjyang village.
As the walk progress getting closer to Kathmandu valley at Chisapani, morning starts with a short uphill walk through many farmlands and small villages and into forest with wonderful scenery throughout the walk, then on downhill to Patibanjayang village, with fantastic views, from this nice small village an uphill for an hour to Chisopani danda for last overnight stop in the high hills before ending this trip at Kathmandu.
Chisopani village with many lodges perched on a ridge above North of Kathmandu Valley between route to Langtang, Helambu and Nagarkot. This spot offers stunning sunrise/ sunset views over chain of mountains.
After catching the morning sunrise views over mountains, our last day walk of this adventure leads through nice pleasant forest and many farmlands on downhill path, passing Tamang farm villages of Burlang and Chepu Bhanjyang with views of Kathmandu Valley, walk continues downhill most of the way to Sundarijal (meaning beautiful water) a magnificent spot with small forest and fresh water streams, a weekly picnic spot for Kathmandu people to be away from the busy city life.
This beautiful area was a summer resident during Rana regime early 1950’s.
From here an hour downhill to rim of Kathmandu valley, from road head at Sundarijal, a short drive reaches to Kathmandu after an amazing time in the high mountains, rest of the afternoon free for individual activities and shopping.
