Mera Peak Climbing graded as PD (French and Swiss alpine climbing system used worldwide) means a climb of less technical effort, walking on glaciers with a straightforward climb.
However one needs to be cautious with proper climbing gear and in good physical conditions and attitude for the climb of Mera Peak.
Mera Peak Climb starts with an overwhelming and short scenic flight to Lukla town, the door tom many Everest treks and climbs including major Mountain Climbing.
Our adventure leaves behind towns and villages heading into complete wilderness crossing over Naulekh or Kalo Himal ridges and passes to reach the hidden valley of Hinku with beautiful alpine tree lines, walk leads further east to the arctic zone of moraine and ice at Mera base camp for the classic climb to the summit of Mera Peak.
After the climb along with fascinating views of world’s highest mountains and feeling on top spirit heading back to Lukla safely for the flight back to Kathmandu with wonderful service of Nepal View Treks and guides.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via respective airlines.
Day 02: At Kathmandu for optional tour and trip preparations.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,800 m and trek to Chutanga 3, 430 m – 04 hrs walk.
Day 04: Trek to Tuli-Kharka 4,300 m – 06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Mousum-Kharka 3,430m – 04 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Thagnag 4,360m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Rest day at Thagnag for acclimatization and local hikes.
Day 08: Trek to Khare at Mera Base Camp 5, 300m – 04 hrs
Day 09: Trek and climb to High camp 5,780 m / 18,958 ft – 04 hrs
Day 10: Climb to Mera Peak summit at 6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft – 08 hrs
Day 11: Reserve & Contingency day in case of unfavorable weather condition
Day 12: Trek to Khothey 3,600 m – 06 hrs.
Day 13: Trek to Thuli -Kharka 4,200 m- 06 hrs.
Day 14: Trek to Lukla – 07 hrs.
Day 15: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 16: In Kathmandu free day with an optional sightseeing tour.
Day 17: International departure homeward bound.
Our trekking will have long experience in trekking field. He speaks English and keeps knowledge about the mountain, mountain sickness, people, and culture. Generally, he will have a right to choose a guest house to stop overnight and right to take a necessary decision if the weather is not favorable if you are physically not in good condition or if there any potential danger of life or etc.
We will provide a porter (helper to carry the luggage) with warm clothing with warm clothing’s while going to the high mountain. We give priority to the local porter as much as possible.
There are nice and tiny guest houses in the village on the way to trekking, also known as a tea house. We will accommodate to our trekkers in that guest houses. You will your own room (twin sharing) and a bathroom is outside. They are safe and people are friendly.
The general understanding in the mountain, you buy food from the same guest house where you say. We will buy a freshly cooked food from the local guest house. They will have a standard menu which is set by the Local Lodge Management Committee. You can choose your meal from the menu.
There are rare medical facilities in the mountain. We generally recommend bringing own medicine (a headache, stomach ache, painkiller, Diamox, bandage, iodine, cotton, gauze, hansaplast, common cold, diarrhea, ) to the normal situation. If it is serious, you should go down or call an emergency evacuation.
There is not enough electricity in Nepal. You could expect power cut in some certain time of the day. While you are in the mountain, you will require electricity to charge your battery, mobile, camera or etc. generally they will ask you to pay extra money for charging.
There is bottle water available along the normal trekking trail. Besides that, you can take your own water filter or can buy a medicine to purify the normal water. Further, you can buy boil water as well as in trekking.
Some village has internet facilities. However, you can buy a local telephone SIM card which will help you to buy the internet and use with your smartphone set. You can use for calling to anyone if it requires at the same time.
You might have to be rescued due to some accident or serious ill. We can send rescue Helicopter service immediately to bring you back. The helicopter services are expensive in Nepal. We recommend you to buy insurance which covers search and rescue in need. After you rescued, we can help you for documentation to claim the payment.

To start this adventure to Mera Peak, early morning a short drive to Kathmandu domestic airport then taking a short and scenic flight of 35 minutes to Lukla. Lukla an interesting town full of restaurant, shops and stores with many nice hotels and lodge, after a refreshing time in Lukla getting organized for half day walk towards Chutanga for overnight stop. A small place with cattle herders shelter and shade with huge pasture field surrounded by coniferous forest.
Our real adventure begins with a climb over Kalo Himal Ridge or Nau Lekh a rocky mountain that separates Khumbu area and Hinku Valley.
First pass leads to a steep climb to reach a ridge top festooned with Buddhist prayer flags at 4,450 m high, the pass called Zatrwa-Og, and then traversing over boulder slope, and climb across Zatrwa-La at 4,600 m, offering grand views of Dudh Kosi river valley with Karyolung and Lumding Himal.
After enjoying the view an hour downhill leads at Tuli-Kharka for overnight camp.
Today a short walk with views of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, then walk leads at Hinku valley area, with first views of Mera Peak the trail leads into rhododendron and pine forest to our overnight stop at Mosum Kharka near Hinku Drangka River.
Morning walk follows a route leading north on leaving forested area behind, after a nice walk reaching a wide open valley with summer grazing area with some Sheppard’s huts, and then continue to cross a small bridge to reach at Gondishung, near Thagnag area.
Gondishung with over 200 year old small Gompa (monastery / shrine), from here an hour walk to reach our overnight stop at Thagnag, which is a small yak herder’s place with temporary settlement.
As this route is slowly getting popular with few small lodges and teahouses has been established since last past decade.
A necessary rest day at Thagnag, a perfect spot altitude wise of 4,360 m for acclimatization before heading higher altitude to Mera Peak optional one can take a short hike for best views of Peak 43 and adjoining peaks.
After Thagnag with nice pleasant rest, morning walk leads on moderate trail for few hours and then climb over moraine, damming Charpatti Tal (lake), that leads to a high area lined with rocks and cairns and small glacial lake, from here climb for a while and down downhill walk to Dig Kharka, and over boulder strewn hillside to Khare.
From here a short descent to reach at Mera Base Camp for overnight camp, with time to relax and preparation for Mera peak climb.
Climb to Mera Peak can be done from base camp, but it is always safe and best to add an extra camp to make the climb more accessible.

On leaving Mera base camp, walk across Mera La after hours of tough walk on this high altitude reaching at Mera High Camp the highest overnight stop of this adventure at above 5,780 m.
Here with afternoon free, our guides will check and scout the route for next day climb, might fix ropes where necessary for the safe climb.
The high camp offers excellent views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamlang and Baruntse peaks.
A Big Day! And highlight of the adventure, starting early morn before dawn for the summit of Mera peak, following our lead guide with steep climb; with ropes fixed where necessary on narrow sections, after a tough climb with no technical difficulty but using ice axe / crampons much required to reach the summit of Mera peak.
From the top feeling high enjoy fascinating panorama of world’s highest mountains of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and towards Mt. Kanchenjunga with series of snowcapped peaks.
After a tiring moment and hard climb but with successful climb descend back to base camp with rest of the afternoon relaxing and marvel the views of mountains.

On completing our goal and highlights of this marvelous adventure on Mera Peak climb, feeling much stronger after the climb, head back to Lukla with longer camps to cover but with pleasant walk to Kothey past Thagnag for overnight stop.
After Khothey morning trek into forested area of blue Himalayan pines and rhododendrons trees, past grazing area with climb and last views of Mera Peak reaching at Thuli Kharka for last overnight stop before Lukla.
Today will be a long and hard day walk, starting very early with climb over Naulekhor Kalo Himal ridges traversing Zatrwa-Og and Zatrwa-La. After the climb a long descend into green vegetation and tree lines to reach at Lukla for last overnight halt.
Overnight in the comfort of nice lodge and celebrate farewell dinner among members and guides including our cheerful strong porters.
From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.
A spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.
Today, your last day in amazing Nepal with great experience and fond memories of Mera Peak Climb and adventurous trekking, as per your time for international flight, View Nepal staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.
