Parchamo Peak Climb with Tashi Labtsa-La Pass, one of the wild and tough journeys leading you to beautiful Rolwaling valley and high up at Tashi Labtsa –La at 5,400 m for the climb of stunning Parchamo Peak that rises above 6,187 m high. After good preparation and acclimatization, we then head for the climb to the summit of Parchamo Peak.

After a successful climb completing our main target our adventure leads from Rolwaling area towards Khumbu / Everest at Thame-and famous Namche Bazaar and finally concluding this adventure at Lukla with a short flight back to Kathmandu.

Parchamo Peak Climb rated as PD + grading used from French / Swiss technical alpine climbing system used worldwide which means a tough climb of technical effort on glaciers and ice.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On reaching at Kathmandu International Airport, where you will be received by View Nepal Treks staff and guide for short drive to your hotels in Kathmandu city. After rest and refreshment, our guide / leader provide briefing of Parchamo Peak Climb and Tashi Labtsa-la Pass with camping on-route includes welcome dinner.

Day 02: In Kathmandu sightseeing tour at places of interest.

Today a free day preparation for the trek and climb of Parchamo Peak & Tashi Labtsa-la, this day allows necessary shopping for gear required for the trek and climb. For interested people can book for short sightseeing tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites and monuments.

Day 03: Drive to Gongar 1,400 m via Charikot - 07 hrs journeys.

Start this marvelous adventure with drive on Kathmandu-Jiri highway, an interesting ride on the mid-hills of Himalaya, passing villages and towns of Charikot and Dolkha to reach Rolwaling area, then reaching at Gongar a small farm villager by the river Tama Kosi, which lies on route Tibet border.

Day 04: Trek to Simigaon 2,000 m- 05 hrs.

From Gongar morning walk over Tama Koshi, and into narrow gorge to reach at Chetchet with magnificent waterfalls, then heading towards cooler area, on leaving rice paddy as the walk climb into alpine hills towards our overnight camp at Simigaon village of Sherpa tribe, a nice farm village growing corns, potatoes, wheat’s, barley and millets, afternoon free visit the old monastery with views of Mt. Gaurishankar and Melung Tse peak.

Day 05: Trek to Dovan 2,850 m - 05 hrs.

Starting the morning walk towards North East through terraced farm fields and then into serene forest of rhododendron, oaks, magnolia, and pine trees, walk continues above the hill and then downhill through cattle herders shades and huts at Gyalche, after an hour of good walk reaching our overnight camp at Dovan, by the river that flows from the mountains high above, Dovan a small settlement in the middle of a forest with few houses.

Day 06: Trek to Beding 3,690m - 05 hrs.

Morning walk starts crossing over Rolwaling khola (stream) then climb up into forested area, where path winds up to reach at Nyimare and Ramding farm a Sheppard’s temporary settlements. Walk continues with a climb and then completing the day trek at Beding village for overnight stop. Beding village of Sherpa community and this is the last permanent village around Rolwaling Valley, village set in a gorge with an old monastery and a primary school built by Hillary foundation.

Day 07: Rest day for acclimatization and short hikes.

Rest day in Beding village at this high altitude, necessary for acclimatization before heading high to Tashi-Labtsa-La and climb of Parchamo Peak, on this day with free morning take a short hike around, as walking higher and sleeping at low elevation helps to acclimatize well. This rest day also helps to plan the climb where our guide offer necessary information of the area, culture, religion and climbing skill required for the climb.

Day 08: Trek to Na Gaon 4,180m - 04hrs.

Today’s walk leads at the end of this beautiful Rolwaling valley beneath the towering Mt. Gaurishankar 7,145 m and Melung Tse ( Jobo Garee) peaks 7,181 m, after leaving Beding village walk leads towards up-hills with views of snowcapped peaks Guari-shanker, Melung Tse, Ramdung Go 5,925 m, Chukyima go 6,259 m, Tabayabyum 5,558 m, and Yalung ri 5,630 m, slowly walk enters a wide glacial Rolwaling valley ending with a wall of mountains. After a pleasant walk reaching at Na Gaon, a temporary settlement of Beding village cattle herders located on wide summer pasture, people grows potato, wheat’s and barley. Afternoon relax, catch up with the dairy or short walk around.

Day 09: Trek to Kabuk at Tsho Rolpa 4,560m - 05 hrs.

After overnight at Nagaon, our adventure continues into deep corners of rugged mountains away from Rolwaling valley crossing small icy streams, after hours of tough walk reaching at Sangma a yak pasture land. From here cross the stream and with steep climb over moraines of boulders to reach a dam of Tsho Rolpa Lake, this glacial lake is Cho Pokhari also; camps will be set on possible level ground near Tsho Rolpa at Kabuk with views of Tsoboje 6,689 m and Dragker- Go 6,793 meters.

Day 10: Trek to Drolambau Glacier at Tashi Laptsa BC 5,400 m - 05 hrs.

Morning adventure leads to a climb over moraine on the north side of Tsho Rolpo, leading high from the glacier to reach our campsite beneath Drolambu icefall. Here our guides check and scout the area for next morning climb over Tashi Laptsa, sometime path are broken and damaged from landslide and avalanches.

Day 11: Climb to Tashi Laptsa Pass 5,755m and camp.

A tough and hardest day of trekking, starting early morning with a climb above glacier for an hour, then heading to a spur with more climb above upper glacier, from this spot on ropes making steps-ledge for staffs and porters, the climb to the pass is not technical except in deep snow conditions. After hard struggle avoiding some accidents from loose falling rocks, climb to the top of the pass after hours of vigorous climb to reach top of Tashi Laptsa at 5,755 m high. The climb to the pass is like small mountaineering experience, some time requires crampons and ice axe to make the route accessible, at the top overnight camp and base camp for the climb of Parchamo peak.

Day 12: Climb of Parchamo summit and return to base camp.

A final Big Day of the adventure! Starting by early dawn climb leads to a gully of snow and ice with rocks and icefall danger, a steep snow and ice ramp leads upwards for 200 meters (660ft) to reach the summit top after walking on icy path. At the top of Parchamo Peak with some technical efforts on few sections using ropes supports, crampon and ice-axe. Feeling great on completing the aim and highlight of this adventurous trip return back to base camp with afternoon rest for long downhill next morning with last night around Rolwaling area.

Day 13: Reserve day in case of unfavorable weather condition

View Nepal Treks for your success, reserves an extra day as contingency in case of bad and unfavorable weather condition, or to adjust this day to maintain itinerary days taking care of client’s fitness as well. If this day not used and if all goes well according to our standard itinerary our guide / leader will use this extra day on return trek to Thame and Namche Bazaar or on the way to Lukla, making some short day so that you can enjoy the walks with views on route trekking.

Day 14: Trek to Tengpo 4,370 m - 06 hrs.

Morning a long descend to camp at Tengpo for overnight stop around Khumbu / Everest region, this is a small summer pasture area for cattle and yaks herders of Thame and surrounding near villages.

Day 15: Trek to Thame 3,820 m - 05 hrs.

After a tough long day of previous day, this morning walk is much easier walking downhill most of the way to Thame village after being in wilderness and away from human settlement for many days after Nagaon. After a nice good walk reaching at Thame village for overnight stop in the comfort of cozy lodge, from here onwards in lodges till Lukla. Afternoon or next morning visit Thame famous oldest monastery of Khumbu area.

Day 16: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3, 440 m - 04 hrs.

From Thame village, today’s walk leads to famous Namche Bazaar the door to Everest Base Camp and other destination of Khumbu. Morning starts with downhill to a small bridge then climb above for an hour with nice gradual walk rest of the way passing Thamo village and into tree lines. Slowly good walk reaches at Namche Bazaar for overnight stop in the comfort of nice lodges. Namche the hub of Khumbu area, one of the largest and prosperous town or village with facilities of ATMs, Cyber cafes, stores, shops, restaurants, banks and fresh bakery with a busy colorful market special on Saturdays.

Day 17: Morning free at Namche then trek to Monjo 2,830 m - 04 hrs.

After a pleasant morning and overnight at Namche descend towards Dudh Kosi River for an hour valley and with gentle walk to Monjo for overnight stop located near Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 18: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Morning walk reach Phakding, then with last climb to reach at Lukla for last overnight in the comfort of nice cozy lodge, celebrate last night dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.

Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 20: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.

A spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.

Day 21: International departure homeward bound.

Today, your last day in amazing Nepal with great experience and fond memories of Parchamo Peak Climb & Tashi-Labtsa-La trekking, as per your time for international flight, View Nepal staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.

Faqs About This Trip

How hard is Parchamo Peak trek and climb?

Starting with moderate walks with up hills and short breaks in between, trekking is pleasant except for high altitude on reaching Rolwaling valley at Beding village of above 3,000 meters. With rest day for acclimatization and the daily walk helps acclimatizing on this trek with slow rise in elevation, the only tough and adventurous day will be from Na towards Tashi-Labtsa Pass top due to high altitude and dry air. Taking slow and steady walk everyone can enjoy this marvelous trek and climb of Parchamo Peak Climb.

How cold during this trek and climb?

Morning and night time are always cold above 2,500 meters with day time are sunny most of the season, spring and summer above 2,500 m 15°-18° C average and minimum of 0° to 5° C, autumn / winter day time 15°-16° C and can get below -10° C during morn / night time. We do not run this trek from December to March due to high chances of snow on route Rolwaling Valley area and Parchamo Peak Climb including the high Tashi-Labtsa Pass.

Preparation and expectations required for this trek and climb?

As this is a moderate and adventurous trekking one needs to be physical fit with sound health, however after booking this trip one can do short exercise jogging and climbing up and down the steps, aerobic or Jumba exercise will be great exercise preparation for this trek. Higher from Simigaon and Rolwaling valley to Khumbu / Everest area of complete Tibetan Buddhist religion and culture, visit to monasteries where our guide will inform of the rules while entering holy sites with dress conducts. As for the climb requires positive attitude and good physical fitness with some practice of ice axe and using crampons if possible during trek our guide will offer good practices and instructions for the climb.

What is moderate and adventurous grade?

As this trek starts with moderate grade of walking as altitude wise as the trek progress leading higher elevation of above 3,000 meters will be adventurous overcoming high altitude and thin air, if the trails are covered in deep snow including the pass we use the word grade as adventurous which leads to tough walk on ice and snow sometimes and finding safe path on snow conditions. If the high areas of Rolwaling valley is completely covered in deep snow we will consider and might re-route the trek to safe area for the welfare, safety of clients including staff and porters.

What kind of camping facilities provided on this trip?

A full camping support with separate kitchen unit of cook-kitchen staff accompanied by trekking / climbing guide with field staff and strong porters, 2 men sharing in comfortable and high quality tents (for single supplement available at extra cost) portable table / chairs for dining with large spacious tents (as per group size) includes toilets tents and soft mattress. All meals cooked on kerosene or LPG Gas stoves as eco tourism responsibility by not using fire-woods. All meals provided are healthy and hygienic.
