This fabulous journey Annapurna Poon Hill - Volunteer services starts and concludes at picturesque Pokhara, after a glorious time in the high scenic Poon Hill with stunning sunrise over majestic Himalayan range of Mountains.
Our journey continues on high hills of Gorkha at Bharpak where tremendous damages had taken place by a huge earthquake of 25th April and 12th May 2015.
A beautiful area in the shade of Manaslu Himalayan range where traditional Gurung and Magar villages of Barpak and Lhaprak located, spending sometimes with much help and support that you can lend a hand during this short period of 3 to 4 days to rebuild some of the unfinished work. During your volunteer, you will have a chance to interact with local villagers, see their culture and see the real life style of Gurung & Magar people.
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m - 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul 1,100m begin trek to Tirkhedhunga 1,450m.
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani 2,874m - 05 hrs walk.
Day 06: Morning hike to Poon-Hill trek to Tadapani 2,721m - 05 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Kimche 1,450 m via Ghandruk and drive to Pokhara - 06 hrs.
Day 08: From Pokhara drive to Gorkha and around Bharpak 2,000 m - 05 hrs.
Day 09-11: Volunteer Work and activities as per the Program.
Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 13: International departure homeward bound.
On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by View Nepal Treks staff with warm welcome and transfer to respective hotels with briefing regarding Annapurna Poon Hill and Volunteer services program, includes information of hotels, lodge and local culture on route trek with evening welcome dinner.
Free day in Kathmandu with optional sightseeing tour (if not included in booking) Kathmandu valley steeped with historical and cultural monuments of temples, Stupas, monasteries and old kings palace with courtyard, where all these important places are added as world heritage sites. After an interesting tour with free afternoon preparation for trek to Annapurna Poon Hill and volunteer work around Gorkha district.
Morning travel by tourist coach or in private vehicle depending upon the group size towards amazing Pokhara valley transfer to respective hotels close to beautiful Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks. (For flying option a 30 minutes flight to Pokhara).
Morning two hour drive from Pokhara to start trek from Nayapul following old Nepal / Tibet Trans Himalayan Caravan passing farm villages Bhirtethati and Hille to reach at Tirkhedhunga for overnight stop in the comfort of nice local lodge after 3-4 hours of good walks.
Morning starts with a steep uphill climb to Ulleri village with grand views of Annapurna South and Mt. Machhapuchare. From Ulleri walk gets better passing Bhanthati, Nagethati small villages, into enchanting rhododendron forested area to reach at Ghorepani Deurali for overnight stop.
Early morning hour hike up to Poon-Hill at 3,210m high for awesome panorama views of mountains with striking sunrise over array of peaks, from here walk to Tadapani through beautiful rhododendron forest with constant views of the mountains. This place in spring will be magic with wildflowers in the shade of high Annapurna Mountains.
Catching another sunrise views from Tadapani, morning walk descends into cool forested area leading Ghandruk village, a large Gurung village around Annapurna region. From here ending our last day walk downhill to Kimche village for the drive back to Pokhara on Baglung-Pokhara highway, few hour drives brings you to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high hills and mountains.
Morning taking a drive on Pokhara / Kathmandu highway for few hours and then our route diverts north-west towards old Gorkha town (early home and kingdom of late Shah kings and monarch) from here continue drive the end of the driving road to reach our project area at Bharpak. A large village located on a hill at 2,00 m high with grand views of Manaslu mountain range towards North.
Bharpak and Laprak was the main epicenter of 25th April & 12th May earthquake that destroyed the villages and surrounding areas. Heavy damaged took place with many death tolls as well where villagers are still living in temporary shelters. The village life is slowly returning back to normal life and daily activities with some help and support from Government and private sectors. However much work to be done with lack of man-power in rebuilding some of the unfinished work building houses-schools and broken trails. Our guide and head person of the village will inform and brief you of local culture and traditions along with help needed to build most of the houses and walking trails. Start the morning volunteer program helping as much to rebuild the shattered village during 3 days time, its farm houses-schools and broken trails our guide and village head person will lead you to volunteering sites. Starting after breakfast joining hand in hand with the locals laying stones and bricks working for few hours till lunch and then carry on till late afternoon, completing some of the important works for the day. Next 2 days carry on with daily routine in rebuilding places of destruction from houses-schools-path including maintaining water supply to the village.
Morning a warm farewell from the village people with gratefulness and thanking you for your immense help and support volunteering for the cause and purpose, on leaving the village you will be glad that your visit to Nepal was worth-while. From Bharpak 5 hours or more of interesting drive reaches you back to Kathmandu.
Last day in amazing Nepal with great experience and fond memories of Annapurna Poon Hill trekking and Volunteer Services, with time for international flight our View Nepal Treks staff transfers you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.
