A fast and lighting trek to world famous and popular Annapurna base camp and the sanctuary surrounded with an amphitheater of snow-capped peaks that surround you at base camp.

View Nepal Treks “Annapurna Base Camp & Volunteer services” starts with an overland drive to scenic Pokhara, a popular touristic destination in a backdrop of massif Annapurna Himalaya.

This short trek leads into interesting Gurung tribe villages of Ghandruk and Chomrong and into a lovely alpine forest of rhododendron and pines trees.

Our walk follows upstream of Modi River right to its glacier source at Sanctuary and Annapurna base camp placed beneath world 10th highest Mt. Annapurna surrounded by beautiful peaks.

After a great time at Annapurna base camp, this scenic walk concludes at Pokhara, after trekking through Jhinu-danda (with hot spring) and Landruk villages.

In Pokhara where our main project and theme of the trips continues with volunteer services near Hyamja tibetan village in Pokhara, helping the highland children of Upper Mustang where is a temporary shelter for Mustangi children (Now HANDS IN NEPAL has built a school) with school lesson, interact with children, teaching English, Mathematics and other activities.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, View Nepal Treks staff receives you and then a short drive to hotel within the heart of Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide / leader will inform regarding trekking to Annapurna base camp & Volunteer Services - hotels –lodge on route with evening group welcome dinner.

Day 02: Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m - 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.

Starting Annapurna Base Camp trekking with an overland drive to Pokhara around Himalayan foothills, on reaching Pokhara transfer to respective hotels close to beautiful Lake Phewa with afternoon free for short walks. (Options by Air 30 minutes flight to Pokhara).

Day 03: Drive to Kimche 1,560 m via Nayapul and trek to Chomrong 1,951m.

On leaving Pokhara valley towards mid hill villages with constant views of snowcapped peaks as the drive ends at Kimche via Nayapul, then starting the walk following the Modi River with climb to Ghandruk village and to Kimrong ridge, from here route descends to Kimrong valley into cool forested area. On reaching Kimrong River, an uphill climb for few hours to the top of Chomrong village. From the top a short downhill to overnight stop at Chomrong village for overnight stop, this is a last permanent village door to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trek.

Day 04: Trek to Himalaya Hotel 2,730m via Bamboo 2,050m - 07 hrs.

After Chomrong walk leads to short downhill through terraced fields to Chomrong River. After crossing a bridge an uphill for an hour to Sinuwa danda, from here walk to Bamboo a small settlement, located by the Modi River in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forested area. Walk continues after Bamboo with gradual up towards Dovan and to Himalaya Hotel for overnight stop near Hinko Cave after a steep winding walks.

Day 05: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m - 06 hours.

From here onwards air gets cooler as the walk gets close to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp. Walk leads on glacier and moraine formed by old avalanches near Deurali the last place with lodges before Machhapuchare Base Camp. Here onward tree lines disappears with only short bushes, a final climb following Modi Rivers upstream brings at Machhapuchare Base Camp for overnight stop. Located beneath North Face of Machhapuchare Peak, from MBC begins Annapurna Sanctuary. Starting the morning walk with views of mountains reaching higher elevation at Annapurna Base Camp, with close up views of magnificent Annapurna peaks with Mt. Annapurna I, after a good walk to Annapurna Base Camp for overnight stop with ample time to marvel the mountain views and just relax in this beautiful surrounding.

Day 06: Trek to Dovan 2,130 m - 06 hrs.

After grand time at Annapurna base camp within the Sanctuary, morning walk heads downhill all the way to Deurali. From here with few ups and downs and some gradual section back into tree lines to reach at Dovan for overnight stop.

Day 07: Trek to Jhinu danda 1,700m via Chomrong 06 hours.

Morning a short steep climb to Khuldi Ghar, and then downhill through dense forest passing Sinuwa danda as the walk leads lead to Chomrong khola. After the bridge an uphill walk for an hour to Chomrong village for lunch. After Chomrong with half hour climb at Chomrong ridge and then descend to Jhinu danda for overnight stop. This village offers refreshing bathe in hot springs which is just 20 minutes walk downhill near Modi River.

Day 08: Trek to Pothana 1, 900 m - 05 hrs.

After a pleasant stop continue downhill walk to another New Bridge (Nayapul) by the Modi River, after the bridge a gradual walk and short climb to reach at Landruk village, and then through terraced farm fields and villages reaching cool forested area, a short climb to Deurali ridge at 2,150 m. After Deurali a nice pleasant walk leads to Pothana with grand views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu including views of Fish Tail peak.

Day 09: Trek and drive to Astam an Eco-Village model - 05 hrs.

Morning starts with super views of mountains and heading up at Thulo Kharka also called Australian Camp a beautiful place with large meadows overlooking magnificent views of the Himalayan range of mountains, from here trek concludes with an hour downhill to Kande village on the road connecting Baglung-Pokhara highway, from here an hour drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time up in the high mountains. On reaching Pokhara a short drive to our project sites in a school at Astam within local bazaar area of Pokhara, where you can observe local daily activities of interest.

Day 10-12: Volunteer in school with studies and other social works.

This winter school for the children of Upper Mustang located in a serene environment with views of Annapurna Mountains, a short season and temporary school within Pokhara valley, the school of educational purpose for highland children of Upper Mustang. Due to its cold climate of freezing temperature higher North West Upper Mustang which lies close to Tibet border, in winter many villagers migrates to lower warm areas of Nepal and as far to India also. During few months of winter season a school has been established for these highland children’s, where you can take part in it volunteering with many various activities. From school lesson on various subjects including some game activities or music program of songs and poetry to dancing, for 3 days you will be engaged with the children where you can offer knowledge helping the children to wisdom of learning skills with educational games and activities.

Day 13: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.

Morning a scenic drive to Kathmandu, after a remarkable time in Annapurna Base Camp and with the children of Mustang at Pokhara, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure for individual activities and souvenir shopping. (Options by air with 30 mins scenic flight back to Kathmandu)

Day 14: International departure homeward bound.

Last day in Nepal with wonderful experience and fond memories of short trip to Annapurna Base Camp trekking & Volunteering in Mustang children school at Pokhara, as per the flight time View Nepal Treks staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.
